I now have books ready for dispatch. The cover price is £14.99 but I am selling copies for £10.50 which includes postage and packing (cheaper than Amazon) and of course mine will be signed and dedicated if required.
It is a full colour book – 96 pages, with 76 pictures including original art work by Jason O’Brien. The book is divided into 12 chapters dealing with issues like Reconstruction, Shopping, Entertainment, Youth, Motoring and Sport for example. Each chapter is named after a number one hit from the decade – so Chapter 9 is about the Police and is called The Finger of Suspicion – Keeping Swansea Safe. (Finger of Suspicion by Dickie Valentine was at number one for 3 weeks in January 1955. Obviously.)
I am very pleased with the high quality work that Amberley Publications has produced. It looks very good and I regard it as one of the best books I have done. You can find more information about by clicking here- Swansea in the 1950s

Here is Richard Burton who was appearing at the Grand Theatre in 1950. Find out more in Chapter 5…
