I had a very pleasant evening last Monday when I was invited to speak at a meeting of the Glamorgan Family History Society. There was a good audience (including my very own family history, my mother and mother in law) and I spoke for a little over an hour. I looked at Valentine’s Day and the effect that it had on the Victorian Postal service and then told the story of an interesting character from Swansea’s past – a butcher called Valentine Rimmel. His father was a butcher called Valentine Rimmel and his son was a butcher called Valentine Rimmel…
It just goes to show how difficult family history can be.
I hope all the members enjoyed it. Next booking? Swansea Library at 2.00 pm on 1 March 2013
