On Saturday 1 November I am giving a talk in the Library in the Civic Centre at 2.00 pm called “Ten things from Swansea’s history that you really should know.”
It will feature ten unusual stories recovered from deep within Swansea’s hidden past – the story of Admiral Nelson’s trousers, the death of Dick Burke, why married teachers should be sacked, the award-winning novelist who committed murder on the High Street, the considerable health benefits of industrial pollution, the Wind Street Riot of 1844…
Perhaps the talk should be called “Ten Secret Stories.” Except that there are in fact eleven of them.
